The Story of Le Palace des Vosges

Not long ago we found this AMAZING "maison" -- more of a house in the country than an apartment in Paris, right smack dab in the middle of Paris' most elegant square -- the Place des Vosges.

If you don't already know it, the square, located in Le Marais, in the 4th arrondissement, is the BEST ADDRESS in town. Nothing comes close! Living on the square is as elegant and special as any address could be.

The Place is more than 400 years old. (Scroll down to read more about its history.) The history is filled with intrigue, having once been a private gated community for the rich and famous. It's the center of Marais life and it gets more beautiful with each passing moment.

Le Palace des Vosges is located on the second courtyard adjacent to the Michelin-rated three-star restaurant, L'Amboisie, at number 9, just one door down from the entrance to the gardens of the Hôtel de Sully. The entry is one of those grand arched doors. There is a key pad where you must have a code to enter, so don't even try, or the Concierge will send you scurrying out!

Once you enter, you will discover a cobble stoned courtyard, statuary in the center, the windows of Amboisie on the right, windows of the Hôtel de Sully on the left and an art gallery straight ahead. Keep walking and turn down the little road on your left. Martine di Matteo, our Interior Architect, and I spent a day at the semi-annual trade fair, "Maison et Objet," where many decorative items we thinks will be just the right dressings. Trust me, the entire apartment will be total "eye candy!" We will stop at nothing to make it perfect...something of which every owner will be hugely proud and LOVE lavishing in.

The apartment is planned to be air conditioned and well heated with efficient electric radiators. Neither smoking nor pets will be allowed.
